USE SEDATION DENTISTRY WITH YOUR DENTIST IN CORONA CA TO RID OF YOUR ANXIETY

Dental fears are incredibly common and can stop hundreds of thousands of patients from visiting the dentist every year. Simply the mere thought of visiting the dentist can cause patients to suffer from anxiety and worry, which in turn can result in someone’s smile lacking the proper dental and oral care that they deserve. To lessen the likelihood of patients ignoring necessary and beneficial dental treatment, your dentist in Corona CA provides sedation dentistry to calm your fears.

Sedation dentistry has given patients the ability to receive the dental care that they need and fighting against their fears. It refers to the practice of inducing a state of relaxation and comfort in the patient without loss of consciousness; it’s possible that the patient may fall asleep, but they’re still in full control of their body. For a majority of patients who suffer from dental anxiety, this option can completely improve the way they feel about their visit.

Here are some sedation dental options that are available at our office:

  • Nitrous Oxide: Commonly known as “laughing gas,” this clear and odorless gas is delivered with a nasal mask. It only takes a short amount of time for the patient to fully feel the relaxing sensation. Your dentist will control the amount of sedation administered and the recovery time is also quite fast.
  • Oral Sedation: If a patient isn’t comfortable with wearing a mask, oral sedation is another option. A majority of patients are much more comfortable with taking pills; this is usually taken about an hour prior to your appointment for it to fully take effect. This is also typically only used for the moderately anxious patient.
  • IV Sedation: This option is used during extended procedures as a “deep conscious sedation.” You won’t be fully asleep, but it is highly unlikely that you’ll remember much (or any) of your appointment and it’ll go by faster than you know! Your breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure will be closely monitored to ensure that your overall health stays intact.
